THE GURDIES WINERY
The Gurdies Winery overlooks Western Port Bay in the Bass Coast region of South Gippsland. The vineyard and winery, which have been established for 30 years, are now operated by Wendy Heaney and Bruce Preston, having purchased from a neighbouring winemaker.
Wendy and Bruce initially moved to The Gurdies in 2012, buying a property with a rundown small vineyard. With help and advice from their neighbour Dick Wettenhall then owner of the Gurdies Winery, the vines started to improve and in 2015 Heaston Estate was established.
In September 2020 they bought The Gurdies Winery, bringing the two properties back to one again. Since then the Cellar Door has endured many changes, transforming into a comfy, rustic meeting place where locals and travelers come to relax, take in our magnificent views and enjoy some of our wines.
The Winery produces a range of varietal and blended wines made from eight varieties of Estate-grown grapes, using traditional wine-making processes. The wines are typically cool climate in style, the most popular being Riesling, Verdelho-Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and our new Sparkling Red.
Features include spectacular views over Western Port Bay and a large cellar door facility. There is an extensive garden area with barbeque facilities suitable for family picnics, and the winery also now hosts weddings.
